As part of interventions under the Social Accountability project entitled “Enhancing Social Accountability for Better MGDS III Results and Outcomes”, the Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN) organised a roundtable discussion on 15th April, 2021 at Crossroads Hotel.
The roundtable discussion brought together stakeholders from the public sector, civil society and the media to reflect on the implementation of the MGDS III in the past four years and identify lessons that may inform the framing of a successor development plan to the MGDS III. The project is being implemented by MEJN with funding from the IM Swedish Development Partner and seeks to strengthen social accountability for better MGDS III results.
The panel of discussants consisted of the Secretary for Economic Planning and Development, Dr. Winfred Masanjala; the Director of Planning in the National Planning Commission, Dr. Grace Kumchulesi; and the Director for Institute for Policy Research and Social Empowerment, Dr. Henry Chingaipe. Gracing the event was Dr Anne Conroy, MEJN Board Member who offered opening remarks. Mr. Dalitso Kubalasa, the IM Development Partner Regional Director also attended the event and made a solidarity statement.
