In our new strategic plan MEJN is consciously adopting an empowerment approach that will enable sustainability of benefits from the projects after leaving the communities. The key program and project design, implementation; monitoring and evaluation parameters implied by this approach are: Ensuring that the communities are demonstrating responsibility in the project activities: Ensuring that the communities are holding the respective power holders accountable: Ensuring that project benefits will continue to flow after MEJN has left the communities: and Ensuring that gender and HIV and AIDS are consciously being mainstreamed in all our projects.
